Peanut Butter Brownies...food for the soul

So I was thinking...that baking makes a lazy weekend fun.  This weekend I took a break from all of the hustle and bustle of teaching, making lesson plans, and fixing up the townhouse and...well rested! When I was able to sleep past 6 AM I was thrilled and spent most of the day Saturday catching up on rest and reading. Still working my way through the old testament, and enjoying it more each day. I also filled this weekend with baking. The recipe came from Pinterest and when I saw it on my new favorite site I just couldn't pass it up. The delicious Peanut Butter Brownies.
The recipe is so easy. Start with a just a normal brownie recipe.

Melt Peanut Butter and pour on top and then top with chocolate chips and peanut butter chips!
As delicious as the brownies were, the conversations that they brought were even more delicious! First I shared them with my camp friends at our weekly get together. My time with Mrs. I always lifts my spirit and makes my week start off with a high. Last night I got to spend some time with two of her girls star gazing and jumping around on the trampoline.
Today, my yummy brownies brought great conversations from some childhood friends. My hometown friends came over to help me devour these brownies and my time with them brought lots of laughter and a great time to catch up on where our paths are taking us. Its so great to have good friends who are all working towards the same goal of following God's plan. I was blessed to have these friends support me in my hometown and am now still blessed to have them support me in my new teaching, I'm a big girl now life. Who knew that yummy chocolate and sugar could feed the soul.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Classroom Additions

So I was thinking that preparing a classroom can be very tiring. I am almost finished with the first week of school and boy am I exhausted. The first day of school was so much fun and they all absolutely loved getting to search the school for our lost gingerbread friend. Our friend was really fun to make!
First I started with a piece of poster board and cut out our class friend:

 I added some gingerbread coloring!
With the help of my new silhouette, I made him some eyes, buttons, and accessories.
Mr. Silhouette also helped with making my star rules!
Here are some fun, bold colors for my classroom.
Both items were a hit on the first day. The students are still asking if I think the gingerbread man will run away today and some are asking to tell him secrets! Happy Friday tomorrow!

Welcome to Hollywood

So I was thinking...that school is about to start! I am working hard preparing a classroom for my little first graders. Here are the promised pictures from my classroom!
 View from my door
Welcome to Hollywood: my backstage area, script writing station, and reading rehearsal loft
A day in Hollywood would not be complete with PopCorn, or in my class's case, warm fuzzie holder.
What will you be having for lunch today?
 Listening center sign
Miles and miles of bulletin boards
Something that makes me smile...Open House is the 8th and I finally get to meet my students that I have been praying for all this summer.
With only four days until I meet my students and six days until we start school, I am running around like crazy trying to make sure I am prepared. My nerves have been getting the better of me lately, but I am praying for a smooth transition into this next stage of my life. I hope you enjoyed my classroom tour, please keep my class and myself in your prayers for a great school year. I pray that I will be able to show God's glory each and every day to these children that He has blessed me with this year.
